Job summary

Provo College in Utah seeks a Nursing Instructor to teach Practical Nursing theory and clinical rotations on-site. You will mentor students, help update syllabi, and ensure compliance with program guidelines.

Requirements include RN or LPN licensure in the state, a graduate of an approved School of Nursing, and a Master’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing as appropriate. ATI certification is required within 30 days of hire; immunizations and BLS are mandatory. Regular campus presence is expected.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as RN or LPN in the state of employment.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
  • Master's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing depending on state and program.
  • Able to meet faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
  • Must obtain ATI Certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction using various methodologies.
  • Demonstrate or acquire skills for online activities to enhance teaching.
  • Review and revise syllabus for courses within the program.
  • Submit program reports to the Director in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain student records: attendance, grades, and skills check-offs.
  • Assist with clinical requirements documentation and immunizations.
  • Teach courses at various times and locations as needed.
  • Teach both lecture content and clinical rotations on-site and as scheduled.
  • Participate in professional development and CE hours.
  • Participate in committees as assigned.

Job Description

Instruct Students in the areas of Practical Nursing.

Job responsibilities:
  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies / techniques in teaching.
  • Demonstrate or willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising syllabus for specific courses within the program and instructional guidelines.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintains student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assists with program data collection that meets set due dates and deadlines.
  • Assists with updating and maintaining student files as related to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs.
  • Teaches both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).
  • Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, takes responsibility for staying current with college updates.
  • Actively participates in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as a priority.
  • Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.
  • This role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
  • Master's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing depending on State and Program.
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
Experience which demonstrates:
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day to day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communications skills verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
  • Must obtain ATI, Assessment Technology Institute Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
