Job summary

Unitek Learning is seeking a qualified Nursing Instructor to teach Practical Nursing across campus locations, with a focus on hands-on clinical experience and classroom instruction.

The role requires RN or LPN licensure, appropriate nursing degree, and compliance with state Board of Nursing faculty requirements; ATI certification within 30 days of hire and ongoing CE hours for licensure.

Qualifications

• Current RN or LPN licensure in the state of teaching.
• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing per state requirements.
• Able to meet Board of Nursing faculty requirements.

Responsibilities

• Instruct Students in Practical Nursing across campus and onsite.
• Review and apply innovative teaching methodologies.
• Utilize online activities to augment course content.
• Review and revise syllabi and submit program reports timely.
• Maintain student records and clinical requirements; ensure compliance with immunizations.
• Teach both lecture and clinical rotations; participate in professional development.
• Attend on-site work up to 5 days per week as required.

Job Description

Instruct Students in the areas of Practical Nursing.

• Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies / techniques in teaching.
• Demonstrate or willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
• Assist with reviewing and revising syllabus for specific courses within the program and instructional guidelines.
• Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
• Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
• Maintains student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assists with program data collection that meets set due dates and deadlines.
• Assists with updating and maintaining student files as related to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements.
• Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs.
• Teaches both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).
• Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, takes responsibility for staying current with college updates.
• Actively participates in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as a priority.
• Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.
• This role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• Master’s in Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing depending on State and Program.
• Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.

Experience which demonstrates

• Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day to day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communications skills verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
• Must obtain ATI, Assessment Technology Institute Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
• Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
