Jobbeschreibung

Description

The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager leads company-wide coordination and governance of the capital project portfolio and other key enterprise projects. Acting as the central point of alignment, the role provides portfolio visibility, execution discipline, cost control, strategic alignment, and timely escalation of issues.

This hands-on leader brings operational credibility, sound judgment, financial acumen, project execution expertise, and the confidence to challenge plans constructively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead company-wide capital portfolio coordination from idea intake and prioritization through approval, execution, commissioning, handover, and financial closeout.
  • Maintain the authoritative portfolio view of project scope, phase, priority, budget, forecast, schedule, milestones, risks, issues, changes, decisions, and ownership.
  • Facilitate portfolio, stage-gate, project health, and leadership decision reviews with concise, decision-oriented materials.
  • Assess project readiness to advance through gates based on strategic fit, scope, execution plans, estimates, schedules, risks, stakeholder input, and operational readiness.
  • Challenge project teams on schedule logic, resources, contracting, long-lead items, outage constraints, commissioning, handoff, and closeout.
  • Identify cross-project dependencies, resource conflicts, bottlenecks, and sequencing risks across sites and functions.
  • Escalate material issues with clear business impact, options, recommendations, ownership, and decision deadlines before they become significant surprises.
  • Drive cost control through disciplined baselines, forecasting, commitment and contingency review, change control, variance analysis, and corrective action.
  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to support approvals, sourcing, financial controls, and project closure.
  • Establish practical PMO standards, tools, reporting expectations, and governance while coaching project and operational leaders in their consistent use.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, business, operations, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Progressive PMO/project management experience in mining, minerals, chemical processing, heavy industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similar asset-intensive operations.
  • Proficiency governing a multi-site capital portfolio and managing project cost, forecast, schedule, scope, risk, change, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge respectfully, influence across functions, and maintain productive relationships.
  • Strong critical thinking, judgement, prioritization, problem framing, and decision-support skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including concise executive summaries and action tracking. Ability to work effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to work across geographically separated operations in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to travel to operating sites and maintain a valid driver’s license consistent with company requirements.
Measures of Success
  • Timely, accurate portfolio visibility and improved milestone and forecast reliability.
  • Early identification, escalation, and resolution of critical risks and decisions.
  • Consistent capital governance, project closeout, and reduced unsupported scope, stale actions, and late surprises.
  • Leadership confidence that the portfolio is strategically aligned and material issues are elevated at the right time.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in office, industrial, and field environments. Travel to operating sites is required. Site work may require personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety requirements. The position may periodically support time-sensitive project or operational matters outside normal business hours.
