Job summary

NaphCare is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join the Washoe County Jail team in Reno, Nevada. This onsite, part-time role averages about 10 hours per week and offers meaningful psychiatric care without a full-time commitment.

Compensation is $76.00–$80.00 per hour. You will conduct psychiatric assessments, manage medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining clinical autonomy in a correctional health setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing
• Current, unrestricted Nevada Nurse Practitioner license
• Current Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification
• Current DEA registration
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Ability to successfully complete facility background and drug screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders.
• Support the facility's Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program by evaluating patients and developing individualized treatment plans.
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical assessments as appropriate, and formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and monitor patient response to treatment.
• Admit, evaluate, and discharge patients in accordance with established clinical protocols.
• Conduct patient rounds and ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic testing as clinically indicated.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and correctional staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Respond to urgent psychiatric needs while promoting patient safety and maintaining appropriate clinical documentation.
• Educate patients on their diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and available behavioral health resources.
