Job summary

HireArt is seeking a Robot Operator to join our client's team in Cambridge, MA. You will work closely with engineering, product, and research teams to operate robotic prototypes, collect data, and provide feedback to improve systems.

The role requires hands-on, detail-oriented work in a fast-moving environment, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 3PM to 12AM. This is a full-time, 12-month contract onsite in Cambridge, MA.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate VR-based robotic systems for extended periods.
• Clearly explain technical observations to teammates and engineers
• Proficiency with Windows, macOS and Linux
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
• Flexibility to work varying schedules including evenings/weekends/holidays
• Willingness to travel quarterly or as needed

Responsibilities

• Safely operate robotic prototypes (real and simulated) using VR headsets.
• Collect data to improve models by demonstrating tasks and evaluating autonomous behavior.
• Execute data collection missions on onsite and offsite locations.
• Provide actionable feedback to engineering teams for product improvement.
• Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and partners.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on robotics systems.
• Set up, tear down, and maintain robot testing environments.
• Transport equipment between locations using company vehicles.
• Contribute to tool, workflow, or process improvements.

Job description

Expected compensation: 44.00 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping our client find Robot Operators to join its team at an early and exciting stage of the company's growth. In this role, you'll work closely with engineering, product, and research. Your feedback will directly influence product direction, system capabilities, and operational workflows.

The schedule for this role is Monday - Friday, 3PM - 12AM.

As a Robot Operator, You Will

• Safely operate physical and simulated robotic prototypes for extended periods of time using virtual reality headsets and controllers.
• Collect data to improve the company's models by demonstrating tasks and evaluating autonomous behavior.
• Execute data collection missions on onsite company and offsite deployed locations.
• Provide clear, accurate, and actionable feedback to engineering and development teams to support product improvement and issue resolution.
• Represent the company and its technology in a professional manner when interacting with customers, partners, or investors.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on robotic systems.
• Set up, tear down, and maintain robot testing equipment and environments.
• Operate company vehicles to transport equipment between onsite and offsite locations.
• Participate in projects to improve tools, workflows, or operational processes.

Requirements

• Ability to work for extended periods using a virtual reality (VR) headset, with sufficient spatial awareness to safely operate robotic systems
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds
• Ability to explain technical processes or observations clearly in simple terms to teammates and engineers
• Proficiency using Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems and office productivity tools
• Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles
• Authorization to work in the United States (U.S. citizenship required for this role due to business or legal requirements)
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute
• Flexibility to work varying schedules is required and may include different shifts, extended hours, evenings, weekends, or holidays based on operational needs
• Ability to travel quarterly or as business needs require

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with video gaming, virtual reality systems, or remote-operated platforms (e.g., drones, robotics, or similar technologies)
• Demonstrated proficiency through competitions, public portfolios, streaming platforms, or other verifiable experience
• Familiarity with command-line interfaces, GitHub or version-controlled environments
• Strong computer proficiency, including IT or technical skills; recent computer science graduates are encouraged to apply
• Experience or a background in photography or videography

This is a full-time, 12-month contract position staffed via HireArt. This position will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the Cambridge, MA area.
