Job summary

Baywood Hotels' The Strand, located inside The Canopy in Downtown Ithaca, seeks a reliable PM Line Cook to prepare and cook items to recipes while keeping a clean, safe kitchen. You will work with Kitchen Manager and FOH to ensure quality during dinner service.

The ideal candidate has prior line cook experience, can follow recipes, and thrives in a fast-paced hotel restaurant environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking PM Line Cook to join our team at The Strand located inside The Canopy. The PM Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to established recipes and standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

This position works closely with the Kitchen Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Front of House team to ensure food is prepared accurately, efficiently, and consistently throughout each service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines
• Set up and stock the line prior to service
• Maintain adequate food levels throughout the shift and communicate shortages to the Kitchen Manager
• Execute orders accurately and efficiently during busy dinner and evening service
• Maintain consistent food quality, temperature, portion size, and presentation
• Properly prep ingredients for current and upcoming shifts
• Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift
• Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties as assigned
• Monitor food quality and freshness and report any concerns to management
• Minimize food waste through proper preparation, portioning, and storageAssist with receiving, storing, and organizing food deliveries as needed
• Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
• Properly operate and care for kitchen equipment
• Work effectively with other cooks, dish staff, servers, bartenders, and management
• Communicate clearly and professionally with the Front of House team during service
• Assist other kitchen stations when needed
• Help maintain a positive, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen environment
• Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Restaurant Manager

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions consistently
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies as needed
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
• Food safety certification preferred or willingness to obtain
