Wilmette District 39 is seeking a dedicated PM Custodian to join our facilities team. This 12-month position helps maintain a safe, clean environment for students, staff, and visitors. The PM Custodian role emphasizes reliability, attention to detail, and teamwork within a school community. The schedule includes a 3:30 p.m.

to 11:00 p.m. shift during the school year and a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daytime shift during breaks or emergencies, with benefits such as health, dental, long-term

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior custodial or cleaning experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
• Physically able to perform the duties of the job (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending).
• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas according to district standards.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces.
• Remove trash and recycling; restock supplies as needed.
• Set up and break down rooms for school events and activities.
• Perform light maintenance (e.g., changing light bulbs, minor repairs).
• Secure the building at the end of your shift.
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs or spills promptly.
• Follow all safety guidelines and district policies.

Key Responsibilities

Work Schedule: 12-month position

• During the school year, PM Custodians work 3:30 p.m. 11:00 p.m.
• During Summer, Winter, and Spring Breaks, as well as any emergency school closing days, PM Custodians shift to a daytime schedule of 7:00 a.m. 3:30 p.m.

Compensation

• $20.54/hour
• Starting hourly wages for this position can be found here.

Some tuition reimbursement is available for courses in the field of education. All applicable benefits can be found in the current Support Staff Union contractual bargaining agreement.
