Job summary

Schaumburg Community Consolidated School District 54 is seeking a Night Custodian for the Operations and Maintenance team in Schaumburg, IL. Immediate starting date with responsibilities to keep the facility safe, clean, and functional.

Responsibilities include alarm arming/disarming, locking/unlocking, setting up for activities, and reporting maintenance needs. Candidates should have custodial experience, ability to supervise with minimal supervision, and knowledge of small cleaning machines.

Responsibilities

• Arm and disarm the building alarm.
• Lock and unlock doors and keep a secure building.
• Put up and take down a flag as directed.
• Read district and department memorandums daily.
• Inspect and clear building entrances of snow and/or debris.
• Inspect for vandalism and report to Custodial Leads.
• Verify heating/cooling operation; report malfunctions.
• Dispose of all garbage; replace liners.
• Vacuum and wet mop areas.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms.
• Submit work orders for maintenance.
• Report injuries.
• Tag malfunctioning cleaning equipment.
• Stock custodial closets and order supplies.
• Set up/teardown for activities.
• Receive/deliver materials; milk distribution.
• Remove exterior refuse.
• Report facility needs to custodial staff.
• Complete reports; perform minor maintenance.
• Clean windows in entrances/office areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/Directors.

Job Description

Perform all phases of custodial duties as assigned by the Custodial Leads, Director and AssistantDirector Of Operations and Maintenance and Building Principal. Maintain the facility in a safe, sanitary and aesthetic condition.

Primary Responsibilities

• Able to Arm andDisarm the building alarm.
• Lock and Unlock doors and keep a secure building.
• Put up and take down a flag as directed.
• Read district and department memorandums daily.
• Inspect and clear building entrances of snow and/or debris.
• Inspect for interior and exterior vandalism and report to the Custodial Leads.
• Verify that the heating and/or air conditioning are operational. Report malfunctions to the Maintenance Department and advice the Principal/Supervisor.
• Dispose of all garbage, empty trash cans and replace liners.
• Vacuum and wet mop areas as needed.
• Clean and disinfect all washrooms.
• Report all corrective maintenance needs to the building or department secretary or submit work orders to the maintenance department.
• Report all personal injuries.
• Report and Tag all malfunctioning cleaning equipment for the warehouse.
• Order all custodial supplies and stock all custodial closets.
• Review the school and outside group activities calendar Perform set-ups and teardowns for school and outside group activities.
• Receive and deliver all incoming materials.
• Receive, count and assist in milk distribution.
• Remove refuse from the exterior of the facility.
• Advise facility needs to other custodial staff.
• Complete reports as required.
• Perform minor corrective maintenance.
• Clean windows in the entrances and office areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Custodial Leads and the Director and Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
