Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Prosperity, SC is hiring Production Operators for our Prosperity Plywood facility. We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding for residential and light commercial construction. You will perform assembly, machine operation, and forklift tasks while adhering to safety guidelines.

Starting pay is $20 per hour with potential increases based on skills and performance. Night shift with overtime, holidays, and weekends; orientation on day shift before permanent assignment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in manufacturing, industrial, or construction environments.
• Two years or more of experience in a manufacturing-related setting.
• Experience operating or assisting with production equipment ( forklift experience preferred ).

Responsibilities

• Pull and lift plywood panels and scraps up to 25 pounds.
• Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to patterns and project requirements.
• Assist in clean up, operation, and maintenance of production equipment including machine and forklift operation.
• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines and wear safety equipment.
• Read and comprehend written instructions to complete tasks.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers to meet safety, production and quality goals.
• Cross train on various machines to increase operational knowledge.
• Ability to work any hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Job description

Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for a Production Operators for our Prosperity Plywood facility! We manufacture pine plywood panels and siding that are ideal for residential and light commercial construction like subflooring, wall and roof sheathing, and concrete formwork.

Plywood is a strong, versatile product made by gluing together thin layers (veneers) of wood with the grain of each layer running in opposite directions. This cross-graining makes it stable, durable, and resistant to warping.

• $20 per hour
• You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the plant.

Shift:

• Currently hiring for night shift roles.
• This will include the flexibility to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
• Orientation will be on day shift and you will be assigned your permanent shift after your orientation.
• Prosperity Plywood operates on a points-based attendance program.

What You Will Do

• Pull and lift plywood, panels, or scraps that could be up to 25 pounds.
• Assemble veneer cores by layering sheets according to specified patterns and project requirements.

• Read and comprehend written instructions as required to complete assigned tasks
• Work cooperatively and productively with supervisors, co-workers, and other associates to complete tasks, meet safety, production, and quality goals
• Cross train on various machines to increase operational knowledge
• Ability to work any hours, to include a variety of shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Prior experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment

What Will Put You Ahead

• Two (2) years or more of experience in a manufacturing, military, industrial, farming, agriculture, landscaping, carpentry, mechanical, or construction environment
• Experience driving and operating a forklift
• Experience working in wood products

Physical Requirements:

• Walk on elevated catwalks over 15 feet high to perform daily duties
• Work in a non-climate-controlled mill, with dust, noise and temperatures that can be higher in the summer and lower in the winter
• Perform tasks such as lifting (50lbs), walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours/day
