The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Plumbing Service Manager who can lead from the front. This is a hands‑on management position. The right candidate will be responsible for leading and developing our service technicians while also being willing and able to perform plumbing service, repair, installation, troubleshooting, and field work when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, coach, and support plumbing service technicians to ensure quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
- Perform plumbing service and repair work in the field when needed, including troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and assisting technicians with difficult or complex jobs.
- Assist with hiring, training, performance management, scheduling, and disciplinary matters.
- Evaluate daily workload and technician schedules to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Assist dispatch in assigning the appropriate technician to each service call.
- Provide technical support and field supervision, including jobsite visits and quality‑control inspections.
- Ensure service calls and projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to customer satisfaction.
- Review service work orders, estimates, documentation, and job closeouts for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure technicians follow company procedures, plumbing codes, safety requirements, and documentation standards.
- Identify training needs and provide ongoing technical, customer‑service, and communication coaching.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, tools, and parts needed for scheduled work.
- Monitor labor, materials, job performance, callbacks, and other key service department results.
- Assist Operations Management with reporting, scheduling, safety, and overall department performance.
- Help resolve escalated customer concerns and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Set a positive example for accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on plumbing experience, preferably in residential and/or commercial service and repair.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory, management, or team‑lead experience.
- Strong plumbing troubleshooting, diagnostic, repair, and installation skills.
- Thorough understanding of plumbing systems, tools, equipment, codes, and industry best practices.
- Must be willing and physically able to perform plumbing work in the field as business needs require.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, coach, and hold team members accountable.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional and customer‑focused approach when working with homeowners, customers, vendors, and employees.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced service environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional plumbing, trade, or management certifications are preferred.
