Job summary

SSH Real Estate seeks an experienced Plumber/Heating Technician for residential plumbing service, repair, and installation. You will handle water heaters, boilers, and related heating components while maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will diagnose problems, communicate clearly with customers, and complete thorough work orders and field documentation while working independently within company guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of professional plumbing service, repair, or installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, valves, and related equipment.
• Experience installing and replacing water heaters.
• Ability to diagnose plumbing problems and determine repairs.
• Ability to read installation instructions and technical documentation.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple calls or projects.
• Ability to complete required job documentation.

Responsibilities

Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, dependable Plumber/Heating Technician to perform residential plumbing service, repair, replacement, and installation work. This position does not require any sales or the upselling of equipment to customers. This position will also handle selected heating-related work, primarily the installation and replacement of water heaters, boilers, and associated heating components. The ideal candidate is a skilled plumber who can troubleshoot problems, communicate professionally with customers, complete quality installations, and work independently while maintaining company standards for safety, workmanship, and documentation.

Plumbing Service & Repair

• Diagnose and repair plumbing problems, including leaks, clogged drains, faulty fixtures, piping issues, valves, and water supply problems.
• Repair and replace faucets, toilets, sinks, disposals, pumps, valves, piping, and other plumbing components.
• Install and replace plumbing fixtures and equipment.
• Perform piping repairs, modifications, and new installations using appropriate piping materials and joining methods.
• Identify plumbing system problems and recommend appropriate repair or replacement options.
• Test completed work to verify proper operation and check for leaks.

Water Heater & Boiler Work

• Install and replace gas and electric water heaters, including conventional tank-type equipment.
• Install and replace boilers within the technician's training and qualifications.
• Perform system filling, purging, startup, and operational checks following manufacturer requirements and applicable codes.
• Recognize issues outside the technician's qualifications and communicate when additional HVAC, electrical, or controls expertise is required.

Customer Service & Field Operations

• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding identified problems and recommended work.
• Explain completed repairs and proper equipment operation to customers.
• Maintain a clean and professional work area and protect customer property.
• Accurately complete work orders, service documentation, equipment information, and job notes.
• Maintain assigned company vehicle, tools, materials, and equipment.
• Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and office personnel regarding job status, additional work, materials, and scheduling.

Requirements

Required

• Minimum 3+ years of professional plumbing service, repair, or installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, fixtures, piping, valves, and related equipment.
• Experience installing and replacing water heaters.
• Ability to diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate repairs.
• Ability to read manufacturer installation instructions and basic technical documentation.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and plumbing equipment.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls or projects.
• Ability to complete required electronic or written work-order documentation.

Preferred

• Experience installing or servicing boilers and heating systems.
• Experience with circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, air elimination, hydronic piping, and basic boiler controls.
• Experience in both service plumbing and plumbing installation.
• Relevant plumbing licenses, certifications, or trade‑school training.
