Job summary

CMTA’s Boston office seeks a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer with a minimum of five years' experience in plumbing and fire protection design. You will collaborate with our Fire Protection and Plumbing Engineers on energy-efficient projects for diverse clients.

Responsibilities include designing systems from design through construction administration, producing detailed layouts, calculations, and narratives, and guiding staff on best practices.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of plumbing and fire protection design experience.
• Strong communication skills and client interaction abilities.
• Experience with energy-efficient projects and life-safety design.

Responsibilities

• Design plumbing piping and equipment for buildings, including pressurized gases and fire protection systems.
• Produce detailed layouts for fire protection systems (pumps, mains, standpipes, sprinklers).
• Develop Life Safety, Fire Alarm, and Fire suppression plans with calculations and narratives.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics; review submittals for conformance.
• Coordinate with owners, clients, and architects; guide staff engineers on energy-efficient designs.
