Job summary

McClure Engineering seeks a Plumbing Engineer to perform essential engineering tasks for projects, including field investigations, equipment selection, system diagrams, and operation sequences, while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers.

Under supervision, you will tackle complex design and construction problems, review drawings for quality, collaborate with multidiscipline teams, perform site inspections, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of experience in MEP engineering with emphasis on plumbing and fire protection.
  • Familiar with IPC and UPC intricacies.
  • Experience designing layouts for potable and non-potable systems.
  • Experience with storm, sewer and laboratory waste systems.
  • Fire protection experience including layout familiarity.
  • Knowledge of process utilities: clean water, reverse osmosis deionized water, softened water.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks: field investigation, equipment selection, diagrams, sequences of operation and specifications.
  • Review drawings for quality and adherence to office design standards.
  • Solve problems of a complex nature during design and construction phases.
  • Collaborate with mechanical/electrical drafters/designers on construction documents.
  • Design and develop plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems.
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify site conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Learn and apply engineering calculations across multiple projects.
  • Build relationships with industry professionals through networking and company activities.
  • When performing field work, PPE is required and safety protocols followed.

Job description

Perform necessary engineering functions required for the project (field investigation, equipment selection, system diagrams, sequence of operation and control diagrams, layouts, and specifications), while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers. Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems. Review drawings for proper practices, quality, and consistency with office design standards.

Under the supervision of a more experienced Engineer, a Plumbing Engineer is responsible for:

  • Solve problems of a complex nature, in both the design and construction phases of the project
  • Collaborate with Mechanical and Electrical Drafter/Designers on the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications)
  • Design and develop plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and specialty piping systems.
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams
  • Research commercially available equipment and selecting equipment appropriate for project/client needs
  • Perform field inspections to verify existing site conditions
  • Capacity to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Learn multiple engineering calculations to be implemented on multiple projects
  • Provide excellent communication to stakeholders and team members
  • Build relationships with industry professionals through networking and company activities
  • While performing field work associated with this position employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights.

Work environment is primarily indoors at firms’ facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)

Requirements
  • 4-7 years of experience in MEP Engineering, emphasis in plumbing and fire protection
