Job summary

McClure Engineering is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Designer to join a team delivering complex building and campus projects. You will create detailed designs using AutoCAD and Revit, while performing field inspections and coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers under mentorship.

The role emphasizes hands-on drafting, accurate layout of piping/ductwork, and adherence to building codes, with hybrid scheduling and strong growth opportunities within the firm.

Qualifications

  • Technical or Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's acceptable.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design and drafting experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit for building systems.
  • Able to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Strong MS Office skills and a proactive work approach.

McClure Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Designer (Experienced) to work alongside other talented designers and engineers on a wide range of projects involving complex building and campus systems. The selected candidate will create detailed designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit and perform inspections in the field. Work is performed under the mentorship of a Sr. Mechanical Designer to enhance and hone skills.

Requirements

Perform design and layout functions required for the project (duct/pipe sizing and routing; equipment room layout; flow diagrams; coordination with building elements and building systems and coordination with outside clients), while coordinating with designers, drafters, and engineers. Review drawings for proper practices, quality, clarity, and consistency with office design standards and building codes.

  • Perform field inspections to verify and document existing site conditions.
  • Effectively coordinate with internal and external members of the design team, including firm staff, client owners and architects. Coordinate equipment locations, routing and share pertinent project information with other disciplines and/or clients in a timely manner.
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:

Technical or Associate's degree from an accredited technical institution or college is required. Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology is also acceptable.

  • 5+ years' experience in mechanical design/drafting including the design, layout and sizing of mechanical piping and ductwork for building systems.
  • Proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD® and/or Revit.
  • Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Naturally curious; Takes initiative and ownership of work.
  • Work environment is primarily indoors at firms’ facility, with approximately 10% of time spent indoors/outdoors at project or construction sites where hard-hat and other safety gear is often required. (PPE is provided by firm.)
  • While performing field work associated with this position employee will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl and carry and/or climb ladders of varying heights.
