Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Plumbing Designer in Chicago, IL, for a growing AEC firm. The role requires 4–8 years of plumbing design experience, an associate/technical degree (bachelor's preferred), and strong BIM/construction drawing capabilities.

You will coordinate with architects and engineers, develop plumbing systems, and contribute to design through construction. Salary ranges $85,000–$110,000 with full benefits.

  • Bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering program is a plus.
  • 4–8 years of related plumbing design experience.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing systems and their application within building design.
  • Experience performing plumbing analysis, design, and system selection.
  • Strong understanding of applicable building codes and sustainable design requirements.
  • Experience developing BIM models, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Understanding of all major project phases, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction contract administration.
  • Experience coordinating permitting and regulatory documentation with local agencies and jurisdictions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, sustainability professionals, construction teams, and outside consultants.
  • Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly while considering client objectives, project budget, schedule, constructability, sustainability, and building performance.
  • Experience researching plumbing systems, products, building codes, and sustainable design practices.
  • Experience with construction-phase activities such as submittal review, construction site observations, and commissioning.
  • CPD technical certification is a plus.
  • LEED or another sustainable building certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
