Job description

JLRD, Inc. is a Florida-based MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and fire protection consulting engineering firm founded in 1991. Headquartered in West Palm Beach with offices in Merritt Island, Jacksonville, and Tampa, JLRD delivers all four engineering disciplines in-house across healthcare, education, government, federal, aviation, utilities and infrastructure, commercial and mixed-use, hospitality, residential, and mission-critical facilities.

We are privately owned and engineering-led. We compete on technical depth, not scale, and we build teams accordingly.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Plumbing Designer is an independent producer within JLRD's Plumbing discipline. This role owns assigned portions of projects from concept through construction documents, proactively coordinates with other disciplines, and produces high-quality plumbing design documents that require minimal rework.

This is a design role, not a production-only drafting role. We are looking for a Plumbing Designer who understands building plumbing systems, can make design decisions within a defined scope, and has the coordination judgment to identify and resolve issues rather than simply execute direction. JLRD's plumbing work includes domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and medical gas systems, with medical gas experience particularly valuable given the firm's healthcare portfolio.

This is a Designer-track role, not a PE-track role, with the opportunity to progress to Senior Designer as technical capability, system-level understanding, and independent judgment develop.

This position reports to the Lead Plumbing Designer.

Position is based in West Palm Beach, Florida. On-site.

  • Identify drawing conflicts and resolve them or elevate with a proposed solution
  • Support clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination reviews
Quality and Standards
