Job summary

K10 Apprenticeships Limited is offering a Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship. You will learn to plan, install, service, commission and maintain plumbing and heating systems, with site work and college days included. Training is ESFA funded and lasts 48 months, with ongoing assessments and safety emphasis.

You will work independently at times, collaborate with site teams, and develop practical skills across installation and maintenance while earning while learning.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent.
• Level 2 Plumbing Studies Diploma completed.
• CSCS/JIB Card advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Accurately measure, cut, bend, and connect pipework.
• 1st and 2nd fix plumbing systems.

Job description

Plumbing & Domestic Heating Technician Apprenticeship

Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technicians plan, install, service, commission and maintain all aspects of plumbing and heating systems. Plumbing and domestic heating technicians can find themselves working inside or outside a property. Over the course of the apprenticeship, the learner will be trained to work independently and without immediate supervision in an efficient and safe manner. They can set out jobs from drawings and specifications and identify the necessary installation materials. Finally, they will be working towards industry standards and continuously showcasing positive H&S practises. Typical duties include:

• Accurately measure, cut, bend, and connect metallic and plastic pipework;
• 1st and 2nd fix plumbing systems
• Working on a range of equipment and appliances including water pumps, air con units, thermostats, pressure relief valves;
• Waste, soil stacks, and rainwater pipework;
• Commissioning/decommissioning equipment and appliances.

This role involves regular manual handling of loads up to 25kg, working outdoors, and working on uneven terrain. K10 Apprenticeships will consider reasonable adjustments where possible to support individuals in carrying out the essential duties of the role.

Typical Working Week

40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

Minimum Requirements

English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills at Level 1 or above. You must have also completed a Level 2 Plumbing Studies Diploma

Desired Requirements

The passion and commitment to become a fully qualified plumber. It will be advantageous if you already have previous related work experience and a CSCS/JIB Card.

Key Training/College Information

K10 will enrol you to the Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating course and fund your qualifications through an ESFA funded training provider.

The apprenticeship duration is 48 months dependant on your previous qualifications.
