The University of Arizona in Tucson seeks a Lead Plumber to perform journeyman-level installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of complex commercial and institutional plumbing systems, with expert knowledge of codes and mechanical room equipment.
The role leads the plumbing shop, oversees day-to-day operations, coordinates projects, ensures safety and compliance, and provides guidance to apprentices and junior plumbers. This is a full-time, on-site position with comprehensive benefits.
The Lead Plumber performs journeyman-level plumbing work involving the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of complex commercial and institutional plumbing systems. This position requires expert knowledge of plumbing codes, mechanical room systems, specialty valves, and related equipment, with the ability to diagnose issues ranging from routine service calls to large-scale system failures.
The role operates independently, provides technical guidance to others as needed, and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position will lead the plumbing shop that includes, plumbing maintenance, new work, existing work and repairs. Lead will oversee day to day operations, manpower layout, project allocation, tools and equipment (procurement, maintenance, and tracking). This position requires extensive knowledge of mechanical rooms/plumbing systems.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
