Job summary

The University of Arizona is seeking an experienced Roofer to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of roofing systems on campus. You’ll assess conditions at the job site and select the best approach, including self‑adhered, hot asphalt, cold process, shingles, tile, single‑ply gravel and metal roofs.

Work requires off‑hour availability for monsoon repairs as needed. This is a full‑time position with excellent benefits, and visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant trade training a plus.
  • Minimum three years of roofing experience or equivalent combination of training and work.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive per Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Experience with multiple roofing systems including asphalt, tile, and metal.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work in variable conditions.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic budgeting and estimating capabilities.
  • Proficient with basic computer tasks and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide roof maintenance and inspections on routine schedules.
  • Repair cracks, blisters, and flashing as part of preventative maintenance.
  • Apply reflective coatings and maintain roof surfaces.
  • Use safety equipment and follow safety procedures at all times.
  • Respond to leak calls and perform timely repairs.
  • Maintain and stock repair materials for various roofing systems.

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Roofer to help keep our campus buildings safe, secure, and protected year-round. This is more than a routine roofing job—you will work on a range of roofing systems and projects, giving you the opportunity to apply your expertise, solve problems, and expand your skills.

In this hands‑on role, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of roofing systems, including self‑adhered, hot asphalt, cold‑process, shingles, tile, single‑ply gravel, and metal roofs. You will rely on your technical knowledge and experience to assess conditions, determine the best approach, and make sound decisions right at the job site. This position requires the candidate to work during off hours, if needed, to repair roofs during monsoon storms.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide roofmaintenance and roof inspections on routine schedules to include cleaning roofsurfaces and gutters of debris through our Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Provides roofmaintenance and roof inspections on routine schedule, which includes repairingcracks and blisters, caulking cracks, correcting misaligned tiles and defectiveflashing through our Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Apply andrepair reflective coatings through our Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Utilize safetyequipment to perform all work duties in a safe manner.
  • Responds toleak calls and fix issues.
  • Build-up pondingarea.
  • Moisture-proofsstem walls, foundation walls and planters.
  • Apply walk deckmaterials to create safe slip resistant walking surfaces on stairs, landingsand ramps.
  • Maintain andreplace all heat tape/mats relative to roof structure.
  • Maintain andstock repair materials for several different roofing systems.
  • MaintainUniversity vehicles by keeping them clean, stocked and minor maintenanceincluding checking tire pressure, fluids and exterior conditions of thevehicle.
  • MaintainUniversity Tools by keeping them clean, performing minor maintenance whenneeded and performing safety inspections on items including hand tools, Powertools, ladders, dollies, etc.
  • Maintain andkeep clean the University provided uniforms.
  • Maintain andkeep the shop clean and storage for roof shop.
  • Maintaincommunication with the roof shop and other facilities shops.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
  • General knowledgeof roofing systems such as self-adhered, hot asphalt, cold -process, shingles,tile, single-ply gravel and metal roofs.

PhysicalRequirements:
  • Ability to workin various working conditions include extreme temperatures, and dirty, smelly,wet conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and liftup to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to workduring off hours if needed to repair roofs during monsoon storms.

Minimum Qualifications
