Job description

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

Basic Responsibilities
  • Work as directed by immediate supervisor, Assistant director of MEP or Director of M.E.P.
  • Work on all facility plumbing systems; not limited to water, sewage, gas, and irrigation systems.
  • Perform tasks assigned as part of remodeling and construction work.
  • Plan, coordinate, develop preventative maintenance programs, and supervise other plumbing employees.
  • Assist other trades as needed in the spirit of teamwork, and cross‑train to enhance skills.
Essential Duties
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Follow established rules, policies and procedures of Facilities Management and the University.
  • Order materials and supplies as needed for completion of work.
  • Maintain plumbing budget within approved limits.
  • Fill out work orders and written reports daily.
  • Display initiative to work alone or in groups.
  • Work with and supervise other plumbing and student employees.
  • Be on call 24 hours a day.
  • Coordinate special projects with outside plumbing contractors and respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Install sewer, gas, water and other systems according to National, State, and Local plumbing codes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on hot water heaters and other critical plumbing systems.
  • Inspect fire sprinkler systems as required by law and assure operation.
  • Repair faucets, showerheads, drains, pipes, and valves; replace parts as needed in drain fixture units, kitchen equipment, circulating pumps, and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain adequate parts inventory and evaluate available plumbing products and hardware, standardizing where applicable to achieve economy.
  • Develop estimates of costs for plumbing services for remodeling/special projects.
  • Formulate specifications for acquiring services, contracts, and items purchased.
