Job summary

University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg is seeking a Plumber Helper to assist with assembly, installation, repair and maintenance of pipes, fittings and fixtures under supervision. You will perform routine service tasks, unclog sewer lines and thaw pipes using standard trade tools, following established codes.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months experience in the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems required.
• Additional experience in HVAC, carpentry or electrical preferred.
• Must have a valid US driver\'s license.
• City of Warrensburg Plumber License preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine maintenance and basic installation of natural gas, air, water, and sewer lines.
• Perform basic repair on plumbing fixtures under direct supervision.
• Assist higher-level plumbers with soldering pipes and connecting fittings.
• Clean heat exchangers and maintain tools and service vehicles.

Description

Under close supervision, assist in the assembly, installation,repair, and maintenance of pipes, pipe-fittings, and fixturesaccording to established codes and specifications. Perform routineservice work to unclog sewer lines, thaw pipes, and repair minorleaks under the guidance of journey-level personnel. Perform basicpreventive maintenance as assigned.

Examples of Duties

Routine Maintenance & Basic Installation — 70%

• Assist with the maintenance, installation, repair, and replacement of natural gas, air, water, and sewer lines.
• Perform basic repairs on plumbing fixtures, circulating pumps,and sump pumps under direct supervision.
• Assist in clearing clogged lines using basic mechanical andchemical methods.
• Help thaw frozen pipes using standard trade tools and safetyprocedures.
• Learn to measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes of variousmaterials.
• Assist higher-level plumbers with soldering (sweating) pipesand connecting fittings.
• Clean heat exchangers and maintain shop tools, equipment, andservice vehicles.

Assistance & Training — 20%

• Provide direct operational assistance to Plumber II and PlumberIII technicians on complex tasks.
• Learn safety protocols and proper material handling.
• Document materials used and hours worked for job logentries.

Other Duties — 10%

• Other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

Experience:

• Six (6) months experience in the maintenance and repair ofplumbing systems required.
• Additional experience and skills in the maintenance of varioustrades; HVAC, carpentry or electrical preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

• City of Warrensburg Plumber License preferred
• Must have a valid US driver's license
