Our millions of visitors enjoy viewing our collections, gardens, and aquariums, and learning about our animal conservation mission at our beautiful 64 acre campus in downtown Indianapolis. Behind the scenes, our employees in the Facilities department work to keep our mechanical, building, and plumbing needs serviced and running smoothly. Working in Facilities at a zoo presents interesting challenges and a great working environment for professional skilled trades workers. We are currently on the hunt to add an entry level (two (2) years field experience) Plumber to our Facilities team! Don't let this exciting opportunity swing by!
Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. The successful candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience working in the commercial or industrial Plumbing field. General maintenance knowledge of electrical, plumbing and/ or HVAC skills is highly desirable. High school diploma or equivalent is required along with Plumbing certification or relevant vocational/ trade school certification/ degree.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, position where shifts may vary due to emergency situations. Flexibility in scheduled hours is a must. This role demands 24/7 on-call availability. Weekend work, holidays and overtime are required as needed, though we do try to have consistent scheduled days off. Must also possess a valid Indiana driver's license and have a driving record that is insurable by the Zoo's insurance provider.
