Job summary

Albemarle-Heating- in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Plumber Apprentice to learn the trade alongside licensed plumbers while assisting with residential plumbing installations, maintenance, and repairs. This hands-on role leads toward journeyman licensure.

You will gain experience reading blueprints, handling tools, and delivering customer service as you complete apprenticeship hours and coursework toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Willingness to enroll in or currently enrolled in a state-approved apprenticeship program.
• Able to work in extreme conditions (cold, hot, dirty environment, cramped, on ladders, etc.).
• Able to bend, reach, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead plumbers on service calls, installations, and repairs.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment to job sites.
• Learn to read blueprints and identify pipe systems, fixtures, and fittings.
• Perform basic tasks under supervision: cutting/threading pipe, soldering, drain cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Document work performed and materials used.
• Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally.
• Complete required apprenticeship hours and coursework toward licensure.
