Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues across campus dorms, utility rooms, basements, classrooms, offices, and public areas.
  • Repair, replace, and maintain plumbing components including valves, fixtures, pipes, fittings, and drainage systems.
  • Respond to service calls and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Inspect plumbing systems and identify potential issues before major repairs.
  • Clear clogged drains and repair leaks to keep facilities safe and functional.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and document completed work; use tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a clean work area and follow campus safety protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, clients, and coworkers.
  • Participate in rotating on‑call coverage and respond to after‑hours emergencies when required.
  • Follow Aramark safety procedures and wear PPE.

Job Description

Aramark is seeking a skilled Facilities Operator I (Plumber) to support the maintenance and repair of plumbing systems across a college campus. In this role, you will perform hands‑on plumbing repairs and maintenance in dormitories, utility rooms, basements, academic buildings, and public spaces, ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and comfortable for students, faculty, and visitors. This position is ideal for an experienced plumber, maintenance technician, facilities technician, building engineer, or skilled trades professional who takes pride in quality workmanship and customer service. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with frequent overtime, rotating on‑call responsibilities, and occasional weekend work as needed. Candidates must hold a valid P‑2 Plumbing License and have experience performing plumbing repairs in both residential and commercial environments. Compensation for this position ranges from $40.00 to $50.00 per hour.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Hourly rate for this position is $40.00 to $50.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance on sinks, toilets, showers, faucets, drains, piping, and related plumbing fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues in dorm rooms, basements, utility closets, classrooms, offices, and public areas across campus.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area while following campus safety protocols.
  • Communicate professionally with students, faculty, staff, clients, and coworkers.
  • Participate in rotating on‑call coverage and respond to after‑hours emergency plumbing issues when required.

  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, push, pull, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work in mechanical rooms, utility spaces, dormitories, and occupied buildings.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in higher education, campus, healthcare, hospitality, or large institutional facilities.
  • Preventive maintenance experience in multi‑building environments.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
