TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

12-month employment with benefits as specified in the Classified Agreement.

Purpose

Licensed plumber skilled in performing plumbing tasks in accordance with standard practices and codes on steam boilers and domestic water/waste systems throughout the District. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: identifying repair and or replacement needs; installing, repairing, and or upgrading plumbing systems in accordance with accessibility requirements and health and safety codes; ensuring completion of projects and work orders in a timely manner with minimal supervision; assisting other skilled trades; maintaining District tools and equipment in an acceptable manner.

Essential Job Functions

• Installs, repairs and or replaces and otherwise maintains existing District plumbing systems (hot water heaters, drinking fountains, wastewater, water, gas, steam, valves, etc.) in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
• Analyses blue prints, schematics, and drawings of plumbing systems to determine the most effective repairs of new or upgraded systems.
• Diagnoses causes of problems and or failures in plumbing systems for the purposes of identifying repair or replacement needs.
• Estimates materials, labor, and or equipment needed to complete assigned work for the purpose of obtaining necessary materials, time necessary and communicating needs with supervisor.
• Oversees backflow inspections, and cleaning of grease traps at various schools.
• Performs inspections of eyewash stations, and safety showers in labs as required.
• Responds to emergency situations during and after hours in order to resolve immediate safety concerns and minimize disruptions.
• Maintain District resources (truck, tools, etc.) in a serviceable and orderly fashion.
• Assist with snow removal.
• Other duties as assigned including but not limited to: moving furniture, chairs, risers and other District resources as requested.
