Job summary

The Chula Vista Elementary School District is seeking a licensed plumber to perform journeyman level work including installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary plumbing, air, oil and gas piping systems within district facilities.

The position requires four years of recent plumbing experience or equivalent district service, a valid California driver’s license, and willingness to respond to off-hour calls. Training for asbestos inspection/removal may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and estimate time and materials for job orders.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license with good driving record.
• Must be willing to respond to off-hour calls and to be trained/certified for asbestos inspection and removal.
• Four years of recent plumbing experience or four years in district as an entry level with evaluations.
• Must meet insurability requirements for district insurance.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures.
• Work with air, oil and gas pipes and heating systems as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs journeyman level work installing, maintaining, and repairing sanitary plumbing pipes and fixtures, air, oil and gas pipes and heating systems; and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least four years recent successful experience as a plumber or four years successful experience as an entry level within the District, including four successful years of evaluations.
• Ability to read blueprints, estimate time and material for job orders; and ability to train and direct efforts of others effectively. Must be licensed to drive a light truck or van to and from jobs; and ability to perform in the official absence of the Lead Plumber in the same field.
• Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment materials, and means of transportation for the particular journeyman tasks.
• Graduation from high school or recognized trade school, or completion of equivalent training and experience.
• Must possess a valid California driver's license. Must have a good driving record. Must be insurable under the District's insurance program and must maintain insurability.
• Must be willing to respond to off-hour calls. Must be willing to be trained and certified for asbestos inspection and removal. May be required to work weekends
