Job description

Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of skilled plumbing functions, including the repair, installation, and preventive maintenance of plumbing equipment and systems. Use computer-based information systems. Promote a workplace that encourages safety within the shop and field. Operate university vehicles to transport materials, tools, and equipment. May be required to use an aerial lift. Report to a Supervisor and actively engage in learning and practicing principles of social justice, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and delivering great customer service.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, Vermont Journey Plumbing license, and one year experience with a licensed construction plumbing/heating system installation and maintenance plumbing role.
  • Backflow Prevention Device Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification or ability to obtain within six months.
  • Experience using computers and mobile technology.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain and a driver’s check.
  • Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions.
  • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing specific job functions.
  • Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check and physical screening.

Pay

Anticipated Pay Range: $36 to $39 per hour.

Special Conditions

Bargaining Unit Position – United Electrical Workers. A probationary period may be required for both new hires and current UVM employees. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. The position is a 40‑hour work week. External candidates must complete a 4‑month probationary period.
