Job description

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain and repair heating and plumbing systems under general supervision.
  • Repair and replace defective plumbing equipment, replace or mend broken pipes, and clear clogged drains.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings using screws, bolts, solder, plastic solvent, and caulking.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipe installations and pipe fittings with hand and power tools.
  • Locate and mark positions of pipe installations and passage holes using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to determine required materials, equipment, and sequence of pipe installations.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and fixtures such as sinks, toilets, and tubs with hand and power tools.
  • Cut threads, bend pipes to required angles, and use pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air, observe pressure gauges, and detect and locate leaks.
  • Repair, install, and replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, water closets, showers, heaters, hot water tanks, and other related items.
  • Repair and maintain dining hall equipment such as dishwashers, garbage disposals, and steam kettles.
  • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes; correct openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
  • Determine appropriate sizes, locations, tools, and methods for solving plumbing and pipe fitting problems.
  • Maintain and service equipment used in performance of duties.
  • Perform welding, brazing, cutting, threading, bending, and other normal plumbing and pipe fitting techniques with appropriate tools.
  • Repair and maintain steam distribution systems and associated valves, pumps, traps, and manholes.
  • Repair and maintain forced hot water and steam heating systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot HVAC systems as required.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors and collaborate with the PlymouthVillage Water & Sewer District and Physical Plant staff.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • NH Driver's License.
  • NH Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
  • Proficiency in pipefitting, including soldering, brazing, pressing, and threaded fittings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot plumbing and heating equipment.
  • Willingness or ability to learn to rebuild hydronic pumps and associated components.
  • Backflow tester certification preferred.
  • NH Gasfitter license preferred.
  • Training in confined space entry or willingness to be trained.
  • Ability to respond to after‑hour emergency calls.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Pay & Location

Hourly rate up to $31/hour. Pay range: $20.98 – $34.68 per hour.

Location: Plymouth.
