Job summary

Hood Plywood in Beaumont, MS is seeking a PLC Technician to implement, troubleshoot and maintain automation systems across our production lines. The role emphasizes electrical controls, drives, and PLC programming, with a focus on improving the automated process.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of PLC experience, familiarity with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix, and the ability to interpret electrical drawings.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Two years PLC experience required.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial electricity, motor controls, VFDs and AC drives.
• Willing to work shifts, holidays, weekends and OT.
• Able to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Participation/compliance with safety and preventative maintenance programs.
• Onsite support for construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Assist in PLC troubleshooting on equipment.
• Perform routine diagnostic checks on electrical systems and monitor automated systems.
• Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
• Provide onsite controls support for mill operations during shifts.
• Work with programming of VFDs and Allen-Bradley PLCS; troubleshoot as needed.
• Maintain instrumentation and electrical devices; run tests and updates.
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain technical knowledge through training and on-the-job learning.
