Job summary

Weyerhaeuser’s Emerson facility is seeking a Process Control Technician to join the team. The role focuses on instrumentation installation, PLC programming, and process control tuning across the plant.

The candidate will troubleshoot electrical systems, work with Allen Bradley drives and VFDs, and mentor maintenance staff while upholding safety practices in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, or vocational certification required.
• At least two years of experience in electrical and process controls in an industrial setting.
• Proficient in ControlLogix programming and troubleshooting (RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000).
• Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills.
• Electrical experience and build capabilities including control panels, safety circuits, wiring diagrams, I/O, MCC, VFDs, drives, tuning, servers, pneumatics, valves, hydraulics, P&ID diagrams.
• Computer skills in LAN, PC, Windows, and Ethernet LAN with advanced MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform instrumentation installation & calibration, process control troubleshooting & programming, drive installation & programming for all plant areas.
• Provide technical assistance to specify and develop improvements in complex instrumentation, automation, and process control & motion control systems.
• Deliver troubleshooting support plant-wide, while maintaining and enhancing the engineering process control philosophy, strategy, and controls standard operating procedures.
• Assist electrical technicians with troubleshooting during downtime events.
• Develop/maintain plant standards for instrumentation.
• Work with power distribution systems including switchgear, transformers and MCC maintenance.
• Troubleshoot basic LAN connections.

Weyerhaeuser’s Wood Products is currently looking for a Process Control Technician to join our Emerson facility. A qualified candidate would have a thorough comprehensive knowledge of electrical and/or instrumentation equipment, processes, and techniques. They will be responsible for electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repair of equipment, programming PLC’s, troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, and fine-tuning the timing of various machine centers.The wage for this role is $43.06 per hour.KEY FUNCTIONS:Perform instrumentation installation & calibration, process control troubleshooting & programming, drive installation & programming for all plant areas.Provide technical assistance to specify and develop improvements in complex instrumentation, automation, and process control & motion control systems. Deliver troubleshooting support plant-wide, while maintaining and enhancing the engineering process control philosophy, strategy, and controls standard operating procedures.Assist electrical technicians with troubleshooting during downtime events.Use hand tools to complete jobs, verify voltage, and train/mentor others on electrical knowledge.Lend expertise to departments to ensure understanding of process control characteristics and PID loop tuning.Assist in mentoring and training of maintenance associates in electrical systems, PLC & motion control systems.Develop/maintain plant standards for instrumentation.Work with power distribution systems including switchgear, transformers and MCC maintenance.Maintain broad-based product knowledge including Variable Frequency Drives (Allen Bradley), PLC’s (Allen Bradley),Motion Control, Coordinated Drive Systems, Instrumentation, Process Control, HMI Software, and Network design experience with Ethernet.Develop an understanding of the EWP manufacturing process and opportunities for continuous improvement.Troubleshoot basic LAN connections.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, or vocational certification through an accredited institution required.At least two (2) years of experience in electrical and process controls in an industrial setting.Specialization in process control systems is preferred.Commitment to safety – demonstrated record of understanding and following safety practices and procedures.Proficient in ControlLogix programming and troubleshooting (RSLogix 5000 and Studio 5000 software).Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills.Electrical experience and build capabilities including process control panels, safety circuit, wiring diagrams, I/O, MCC, VFD's, Drives, Tuning, Servers, pneumatics, valves, hydraulics, P & ID diagrams.Computer skills in LAN, PC, Windows, and Ethernet LAN with advanced MS Office skills.
