Job summary

Sterling St James LLC, located in the southwest suburban Atlanta area, is seeking a skilled Controls Technician for a day shift (7:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday). The role involves designing cells, integrating controls, and installing automated equipment.

You will build PLC panels, program them, and bring systems up and running. Key tasks include pneumatic/hydraulic control work, PLC troubleshooting, robot controller work, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of related experience.
• PLC programming experience required.
• Ladder logic troubleshooting.
• Panel building experience.
• Electrical experience.
• Some robotics experience preferred.
• Safety circuit integration.
• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the USA without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Install and design control systems for automated equipment within production cells.
• Build PLC panels and program them to run.
• Configure, test, operate, maintain, service, and troubleshoot controls and automated systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC systems using computers.
• Install, program, or repair programmable controllers and robot controllers.
• Utilize fabrication equipment knowledge to complete maintenance tasks.
• Operate or oversee equipment, analyze events, and collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve output.

Job description

Major and established company with a huge majority market share in what they manufacture and a good working culture has an opportunity on the day shift which is 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday thru Friday for a Controls Technician in the southwest suburban Atlanta area.

The Controls Technician will participate in cell design, along with the integration of controls and installation of automated equipment. Will build PLC panels and then program them as well as get them up and running. The technician is responsible for assisting in configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting controls, as well as other automated systems used in production. Some of the responsibilities of the role detailed below:

1. Pneumatics: Install air logic controls from prints or schematics.

2. Hydraulic: Troubleshoot hydraulic circuits containing the following components, check valves, accumulators, cylinders, flow controls, directional control valves, pressure control valves.

3. Troubleshoot PLC systems using computer.

4. Install, program, or repair programmable controllers, and robot controllers.

5. Use knowledge of all fabrication equipment to complete maintenance tasks.

1. Operating the equipment or overseeing the operation of equipment.
2. Analyzing and categorizing events within the equipment.
3. Working closely with engineers and production team to help achieve a desired output.
4. Conducting preventative maintenance, such as routine upgrades and inspections.
5. Repairing machine controls, systems, and tools as needed.
6. Disassembling (or re-assembling) equipment to repair or replace defective parts.
7. Training others to install, use, and service equipment.

The location is southwest suburban Atlanta, GA. There is an attractive hourly rate. OT is paid at time and 1/2. There are major company benefits and an attractive 401K with matching.
