Job summary

General-Shale is seeking a PLC / Electrical Technician in Rome, Georgia. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant electrical systems and automated equipment.

Key responsibilities involve performing basic wiring, maintaining electrical systems, working with PLCs, and participating in an on-call rotation. Candidates with at least 5 years of experience, especially in industrial settings, will be preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of industrial electronics or electrical experience.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Industrial electrician experience strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic wiring and installation of industrial electrical equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical systems and automated machinery.
• Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and control systems.
• Modify and update software and equipment as needed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and controls.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

Job description

The PLC / Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant electrical systems and automated equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This position supports production through preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and on-call technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform basic wiring and installation of industrial electrical equipment
• Maintain and troubleshoot plant electrical systems and automated machinery
• Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled equipment
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on electrical and control systems
• Modify and update software and equipment as needed to support operations
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to automation and controls
• Participate in an on-call rotation, including off-shifts and weekends
• Work primarily with control systems and software

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of industrial electronics or electrical experience
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Experience with:
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
• HMIs
• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
• Proficiency with Allen-Bradley automation and programming, including:
• RSLogix 500 & 5000
• ControlLogix
• FactoryTalk ME
• RSLinx
• Associate’s Degree in Electronics or a related field is preferred
• Industrial electrician experience strongly desired
