Job Brief

Kable Workforce Solutions is hiringaPLC Controls Engineerforour client. This job is responsible for the design, programming, implementation, and support of PLC and HMI control systems for automation and robotic applications. This role works closely with customers, engineering teams, and project management to develop and support electrical control systems that meet project requirements, industry standards, and customer expectations.

What’s a Typical Day Like?
  • Perform advanced electrical calculations to verify design requirements and system performance.
  • Design, program, start up, and debug PLC and HMI systems using platforms such as Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide technical input.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding technical issues and project requirements.
  • Support project scheduling, budget tracking, and engineering coordination as assigned.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites for installation, startup, troubleshooting, and support.
  • Follow ISO procedures and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Maintain and update project documentation and project binders.
  • Assist with milestone invoicing and project reporting as needed.
  • Apply and maintain compliance with industry standards including NEC, ANSI-RIA, and OSHA.
  • Design and develop robotic and automation control systems to customer specifications.
  • Create bills of materials, electrical drawings, and supporting technical documentation.
  • Develop and execute testing procedures for system validation and verification.
  • Conduct design reviews with customers, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Analyze test data to verify functional and performance requirements are achieved.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during debugging and customer site support.
  • Provide technical leadership and support to engineering, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and marketing teams.
  • Assist with technical proposals and engineering change documentation as needed.
  • Develop and support standard engineering solutions and applications.
  • Communicate project status and updates with team members and management.
  • Support revenue and project performance goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • 4–6 years of related controls engineering experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC and HMI programming.
  • Experience designing and debugging automated and robotic control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles including fuse and wire sizing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical documents, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of NEC, ANSI-RIA, OSHA, and related industrial standards.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Computer proficiency with engineering and business software applications.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
  • Ability to travel frequently.
  • Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and sit.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling tools, controls, and equipment.
  • Occasional walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Work performed in office, manufacturing, and customer site environments.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical systems, UV exposure, fumes, sparks, and heat.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of manufacturing and industrial environments.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous materials including grease, oils, lubricants, paints, thinners, and cleaning solutions.
  • Employees are expected to follow all safety procedures and hazardous material handling guidelines.
