Job summary

Baltimore City Recreation and Parks is seeking a Playground Safety Inspector, Program Coordinator to plan and coordinate the city’s playground safety program. You will conduct inspections and audits, maintain certifications, supervise maintenance, and help plan improvements across parks and recreation centers.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience, plus certifications and a valid Maryland driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Three (3) years of experience in planning, supervision, evaluation or coordination of a program or business or operation.
• Ability to acquire Playground Inspection Certification and Playground Maintenance Certificate.
• Maryland Class C noncommercial driver’s license required (Baltimore City).
• Must upload a copy of a valid driver's license with the application.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates the Playground Safety Program activities, inspections and audits.
• Ensures proper certifications, BMPS, tracking and scheduling renovations and repairs.
• Directs maintenance of playgrounds, equipment and surfacing; oversees improvements.
• Plans long-range goals for Baltimore City playgrounds; reviews design and construction for approval.
• Monitors procurement actions; coordinates with Capital Development; creates program budget; seeks grants.
