Job summary

Burke in Fond du Lac, WI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. The role focuses on supporting the design of playground components, developing CAD models, installation instructions, and prototypes.

You’ll explore new materials, improve safety, and assist with cost reduction while aligning with marketing goals. Ideal candidates are enrolled in mechanical engineering/design programs, comfortable with 3D CAD (Autodesk Inventor preferred), and capable of hands-on prototype work

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a mechanical engineering or design program.
• Experience with CAD and prototype assembly is preferred.
• Ability to work hands-on with prototypes and evaluate designs.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Willingness to assist with cost reduction and safety improvements.

Responsibilities

• Assist design engineers with 3D models and CAD drawings to support product development.
• Develop installation instructions for new products.
• Assist with structural analysis for new product concepts.
• Assist with setup and testing of prototypes.
• Research market position and cost data to assess feasibility of design or application.
• Investigate new materials and manufacturing methods.
• Support design and development to meet quality and safety standards.
• Create 2D & 3D CAD models.
• Develop installation instructions and drawings.
• Help develop product specs, BOMs, and costs.
• Other duties as assigned.
