Job summary

PhysicsX, the physics AI company for industrials, is seeking a Platform Support Engineer for our New York City office with a hybrid schedule (3 days on-site). You will be the first technical responder, owning intake-to-resolution, triage, investigation, customer updates, and escalate-to-PROD/SRE/FDSE/Deployment Engineering when needed.

You’ll work across SaaS and cloud environments, debug inside the platform, navigate Kubernetes, and practice GitOps to keep live systems stable.

Qualifications

• Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders during live incidents.
• Sound triage and escalation judgement: distinguishing defects from deployment issues.
• Working Kubernetes familiarity: investigating failing pods and restarts.
• A GitOps mindset: Git as source of truth, PR-based changes.
• Strong Linux and troubleshooting fundamentals.
• Cloud fundamentals (networking, compute, storage, IAM) and log reading.
• Comfort working across teams in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming issues, classify severity, and run first-pass investigations.
• Resolve what you can; hand over with logs, events, config, timeline, and next steps.
• Follow a structured incident process with clear handovers and post-mortems.
• Debug inside the platform.
• Navigate Kubernetes environments, inspect workloads, and read events.
• Use Linux, containers, Helm, and cloud basics to identify root causes.
• Time-box investigations and escalate when progress stalls.
• Work with GitOps: fixes via PRs and updating Git records.
• Communicate updates clearly to customers and internal teams.
• Build runbooks and feed fixes back to Product and Platform teams.
