Job summary

Topsteptrader is seeking a Trading Platform Software Support Engineer who turns recurring trader-impacting issues into permanent fixes. You will own complex escalations across TopstepX and Topstep Brokerage, reproduce issues in a local environment, diagnose in code, ship fixes, and build observability to prevent recurrence.

The role is engineering-first with production code across back-end and front-end, leading end-to-end investigations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in production systems.
• Fluency in C# / .NET back-end and React (TypeScript) front-end.
• Strong debugging instincts in distributed systems with end-to-end ownership.
• Foundational SQL knowledge and ability to write/read queries.
• Experience with observability/logging stacks (Datadog, Elasticsearch/Kibana).
• Proficiency reading/troubleshooting API logs and HTTP traffic (Postman).
• Excellent written communication and ability to document investigations.
• Bias toward shipping fixes and practical solutions.
• Comfortable with remote work and async communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive escalations from reproduction through resolution with cross-org collaboration.
• Write production code in C#/.NET back-end and React front-end as needed for small fixes.
• Scope complex escalations into well-defined tickets for future work.
• Build and maintain internal admin tooling and observability surfaces.
• Lead complex investigations across distributed traces and service boundaries.
• Lead on-call and post-incident reviews with learning-oriented write-ups.
• Collaborate with Cloud Ops, QA, and Product for prevention and regression.
• Develop dashboards, alerts, and runbooks to improve tooling and speed.
