Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks a Product Manager to own Kin’s product configuration platform — the internal-led platform powering how Kin’s products are built, configured, and managed. This is a platform role where internal teams such as State Management, Underwriting, Insurance and Compliance are customers of the data model and API.

The role requires 5+ years in product management for platform/API products, with comfort in ambiguity as the platform expands beyond insurance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product management with direct ownership of a platform, API, or internal tooling product.
• Experience treating internal teams as customers and translating their workflows into platform requirements.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity as the platform expands beyond insurance.
• Technical fluency to work with engineers on API design, versioning, and data model decisions.
• Experience with or strong interest in applying AI tools to internal workflows—prototyping, configuration, or enablement use cases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the product strategy and roadmap for Product API, the product configuration data model, and product expansion tooling.
• Define how internal teams consume and depend on product data and build the platform to serve them as customers.
• Drive API strategy and versioning standards for reliable interfaces.
• Lead discovery on platform extensions as Kin’s offerings grow beyond insurance.
• Build and scale the AI-enablement layer on the Product API MCP for rapid prototyping.
• Partner with engineering and design to move platform capabilities from prototype to production.
• Write precise specs and requirements for IHOP and PAPI features.
• Define and own metrics to measure independent delivery by consuming teams.
