Job summary

Recruiting From Scratch represents a rapidly growing infrastructure company building the technology that helps digital platforms detect fraud, abuse, and enforce trust and safety at scale. They are scaling their engineering organization and seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Core Infrastructure team in New York City.

This is a hands-on leadership role focused on building high-performing teams, guiding platform reliability, and driving architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 8 years of software engineering experience building production systems.
• 4 years of engineering management experience in startups.
• Proven leadership of platform/infrastructure/backend teams.
• Strong architecture review and production code contribution when needed.
• Experience with high-throughput, data-intensive platforms and workflows.
• Experience setting roadmaps, prioritization, and operational discipline.
• Ability to coach engineers and foster autonomous teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing infrastructure team for core platform services.
• Define priorities, roadmaps, and execution plans aligned with goals.
• Coach engineers with regular feedback and mentorship.
• Improve delivery quality by clear ownership and reduced friction.
• Build a culture of shared ownership and resilience.
• Collaborate with Product, Customer Success, and GTM to drive impact.
• Drive reliability, observability, and debt reduction.
• Lead architecture discussions and contribute to design when needed.
• Shape engineering metrics and processes for a scaling org.
• Guide the future leadership of the engineering organization.
