Job summary

Notion is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Search & Context Platform to lead a technically deep team responsible for lexical and semantic search, indexing, retrieval, and context/memory primitives powering Notion's agents.

You will set the technical direction, partner with the AI and product teams, and ensure scalable, secure, and reliable platform infrastructure that accelerates product velocity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams with a track record of shipping high-quality systems in a fast-paced environment.
• A technically leaning management style—you stay close to the code and the design, can credibly debate architecture and tradeoffs with senior ICs, and raise the technical bar of your team.
• Experience with search, retrieval, or large-scale data/indexing systems (lexical/semantic) and scalable platform infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technically deep platform team responsible for search infrastructure (lexical & semantic), indexing, and context/memory primitives powering Notion's agents.
• Set a clear roadmap balancing foundational investments with fast iteration on indexing and context capabilities for agents.
• Operate the platform with a high reliability bar: SLOs, observability, on-call health, and incident response with post-mortems.
• Partner with the Search & Context product team, the AI team, and other platform consumers to define interfaces and commitments.
• Anticipate customer needs, invest in capacity and primitives, and accelerate product velocity while maintaining platform health.
• Lead hiring, coaching, and growth of engineers, fostering an environment for top ICs to thrive.
• Contribute to Notion's engineering practices around platform design, reliability, and AI-era infrastructure.
