Job summary

Gibson Dunn is seeking an Engineering Manager for Platform Engineering in New York City or Washington, D.C. You will lead a team responsible for the firm's internal developer platform—tools, services, and standards that boost developer productivity and delivery quality.

The role combines hands‑on technical leadership with people management, driving platform reliability, security, and AI‑enabled capabilities while aligning with firm strategy and stakeholder needs.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership experience delivering internal developer platforms or platform teams.
• Proven track record in planning, execution, and risk management across programs.
• Solid technical grounding in Go/Python, IaC, cloud, Kubernetes, and observability.
• Exceptional communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with ITIL and Lean/Agile practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of platform engineers.
• Own the Platform Engineering roadmap and delivery.
• Establish operating rhythm, release management, and on‑call processes.
• Review designs, guide architecture, and enforce coding standards.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, and compliance across AI systems.
