Job summary

Modicus Prime Ltd. in Austin, TX is seeking a seasoned Platform Engineer to own and optimize CI/CD pipelines, multi-cloud infrastructure, and security controls. You will lead tooling, enable development parity across environments, and guide teams on best practices.

The role emphasizes AWS with GCP/Azure familiarity, Terraform mastery, and observability via OpenTelemetry. Candidates should have 5+ years in platform/DevOps, and a strong emphasis on compliance and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/MIS or equivalent.
• 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE.
• Strong cloud experience (AWS required; GCP/Azure a plus).
• Proficiency with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Python with typing for tooling and automation.
• Experience with GitHub Actions and container tech (Docker).

Responsibilities

• Own and optimize GitHub Actions workflows with parallel execution and comprehensive testing strategies.
• Maintain local development environments and parity with GitHub Actions using scripting (Python, Bash, justfiles, or makefiles).
• Provide technical guidance and education to developers on platform tools and best practices.
• Design and implement multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) using Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Manage integrations with ML APIs and services.
• Maintain and upgrade secrets management, service mesh, and networking across clouds.
• Deploy observability platforms using OpenTelemetry (OTel).
• Correlate ML/LLM metrics with traditional observability.
• Implement security controls aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR.
• Design asset-based permissions and access control systems.
• Maintain audit trails and documentation for regulated deployments.

Job description

• Own and optimize GitHub Actions workflows with parallel execution and comprehensive testing strategies
• Maintain local development environments and ensure parity with GitHub Actions using scripting tools such as Python, Bash, justfiles, or makefiles
• Provide technical guidance and education to developers on platform tools and best practices
• Design and implement multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, and Azure) using Terraform and Kubernetes
• Manage complex integrations with machine learning APIs and services
• Maintain and upgrade secrets management, service mesh, and networking architecture across cloud providers
• Deploy and configure observability platforms using OpenTelemetry (OTel)
• Correlate machine learning and LLM metrics with traditional application observability
• Implement security controls aligned with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR requirements
• Design asset-based permissions and access control systems
• Maintain audit trails and documentation for regulated deployments

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, full-stack development, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS required, GCP/Azure a plus)
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred)
• Python with type hints for tooling and automation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Solid understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong grasp of networking, security, and secrets management

Useful Experience

• Experience with regulated industries (pharmaceutical, medical device, finance)
• Background with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
• Observability platform experience using OTel (Prometheus, Grafana, or modern alternatives)
• Experience with LLM, vision, and other machine learning frameworks
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing or quality systems
• Exposure to Rust, uv, justfile, or other cutting-edge platform tools

• Maintain high uptime of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring code can always be delivered to test environments
• Ensure customer environments and internal environments are closely aligned to prevent deployment failures
