Job summary

Align Technology, Inc. is seeking a Vice President of Platform Engineering to lead the architecture, strategy, and delivery of data, AI, cloud, API, and identity platforms.

You will own end-to-end platform products, partnering with R&D, product, security, and business stakeholders to enable scalable, secure, and compliant digital products and operations. The role reports to the Chief Digital Officer and is located in Raleigh, NC or San Jose, CA, with a focus on building high-performing

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in large-scale technology environments, including platform/enterprise architecture.
• Proven senior leadership building and managing multi-disciplinary platform teams.
• Experience operating platforms as products with measurable impact on productivity and cost.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year vision and roadmap for data, AI, cloud, API, and identity platforms.
• Lead and scale platform engineering organizations with a culture of excellence.
• Operate platforms as products with clear SLAs, adoption metrics, and feedback loops.
• Translate business needs into platform capabilities and governance frameworks.
• Own budgets, vendor strategy, and technology evaluations (RFI/RFP).
• Ensure security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (SOX, PCI DSS, HIPAA/GDPR where applicable).
