Job summary

Vultr is seeking a Platform Engineer to join our Imaging & Provisioning team. You will automate OS installations, build golden images, and streamline deployment workflows across multiple OSes, including Windows, Linux, and BSD.

You’ll replace legacy scripts with cloud-init and expand the catalog with community-requested distributions. You will own the full lifecycle of marketplace applications and develop tooling with Ansible, Packer, and custom scripts.

Qualifications

• Hands-on systems engineer with automation focus.
• Experience building golden images and OS provisioning.
• Familiarity with multi-OS environments (Windows/Linux/BSD).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain OS images for Cloud Compute and Bare Metal.
• Convert images to cloud-init for consistent provisioning.
• Expand OS catalog with new distributions per community requests.
• Manage lifecycle of marketplace applications.
• Develop automation tooling for image creation and deployment.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure image compatibility.
• Debug image issues and provide permanent fixes.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for image builds and monitoring.
