Job summary

OpenAI is hiring backend-focused Product Engineers for the Codex platform, working across our platform and security product teams. You’ll build Go services and APIs enabling developers and AI agents to operate securely in cloud environments, with emphasis on durable state, error handling, and scalable orchestration.

You’ll own the end-to-end lifecycle from problem framing to shipping, monitoring, and iteration, partnering with frontend, infra, and security engineers.

Qualifications

• Strong Go skills with production backend systems experience.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and state management.
• Ability to design clear APIs and data models for complex workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build Go services and APIs for provisioning cloud environments and agent execution.
• Design reliable orchestration for long-running, parallel work with durable state and retries.
• Implement secure, auditable execution workflows with proper permissions and isolation.
• Own production quality: testing, rollouts, observability, performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with frontend and design to simplify backend capabilities for users.
