Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer, Platform in Santa Monica, CA to build and own the backend systems powering payments, subscriptions, auth, and the TTS API across web and mobile clients.

You’ll join a flat, autonomous team focused on scalable, maintainable systems and rapid iteration. Expect high impact on a product used by millions, with a strong emphasis on reliability and observability.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and maintaining backend services in TypeScript/Node.
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native architectures.
• Commitment to code quality, testing, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Take on services you didn't write and make them faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Establish correctness before shipping and leave checks in place after you move on.
• Automate repetitive tasks and focus on scalable solutions.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable patterns for the team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on top of us.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web to keep backend architecture ahead of the product trajectory.
