Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Software Engineer, Platform to strengthen our backend systems in a fully distributed environment. You will own critical APIs for payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics across multiple platforms, and drive efficiency by automating workflows and improving reliability.

Collaboration with product teams will help keep our architecture ahead of product needs. You should bring strong TS/Node backend experience, solid GCP knowledge, and a balanced approach to coding,

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience using TypeScript/Node.js (or equivalent).
• Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) required; familiarity with AWS/Azure beneficial.
• Demonstrated ownership: willing to hand off work and show outcomes.
• Experience designing with AI agents/tools to automate workflows.
• Strong ability to verify results via logs, DB state, and real requests, not just summaries.
• Sound judgment on what not to build and clear reasons for decisions.
• Receptiveness to feedback and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and the public TTS API.
• Improve existing services for performance, cost, and reliability.
• Ensure correctness of changes before shipping and leave robust post-deploy checks.
• Automate repetitive tasks and focus on higher-impact work.
• Reuse and generalize solutions to benefit the whole team.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations for customers building on Speechify.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend architecture aligned with product direction.
