Job summary

Speechify is seeking a platform-focused backend engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable APIs powering our text-to-speech products. You will work on public and internal APIs, from payments to analytics, ensuring reliability and performance in a fast-paced, asynchronous work culture.

As part of a distributed team, you will collaborate with frontend, data, and cloud engineers to align architecture with product strategy and user experience.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience with TS/Node.
• Experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS/Azure or other cloud providers.
• Efficient ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks by impact.
• Experience with Docker and containerized deployments.
• Proficiency deploying high-availability apps on Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API and internal APIs (Payment, Subscription, Auth, Consumption Tracking).
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, improving performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate on enterprise-focused B2B solutions and integrations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with product strategy and user experience.
