Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Platform Software Engineer (IC4) in Nashville, on-site, to shape the architecture of OCI Log Analytics. You will lead the query language, planning, and distributed execution, and build AI-enabled agent workflows for large-scale log analysis.

Expect to advance multi-tenant cloud services, drive performance improvements, and mentor engineers while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Six or more years of software engineering experience, including designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong programming expertise in Java, Python, or both.
• Experience building cloud-scale, multi-tenant products or services with high throughput.
• Understanding of distributed computing, data processing, reliability, and lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted software development and large language models, AI agents, MCP and A2A.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to participate in on-call rotation and work on-site in Nashville.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and development of OCI Log Analytics query-language capabilities.
• Build scalable systems for analytics and ML across terabytes of data with latency and cost constraints.
• Design AI agents and workflows that translate user intent into queries and surface insights.
• Architect secure, multi-tenant cloud services with fault tolerance and automated recovery.
• Identify bottlenecks across query execution, indexing, storage, and analytics pipelines.
• Define performance, scalability, availability, and reliability requirements.
• Develop load, stress, fault-injection, and recovery tests for scale.
• Establish telemetry, dashboards, and alerts to support operational excellence.
• Lead investigations of production issues and drive corrective improvements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and maintain OCI service reliability.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, SRE, security, and Observability teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers; contribute to hiring and talent development.
