Job summary

Oracle in Nashville seeks a Principal Platform Software Engineer to shape the backbone of OCI services. You will lead cross-team efforts on APIs, middleware, runtimes, and developer tooling to ensure scalable, reliable platform capabilities across multiple services.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive durable architecture decisions, and deliver migration guides and documentation to enable rapid platform adoption at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software-engineering experience with backend/platform or cloud services.
• Strong experience designing scalable distributed systems and production APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and evolution of backend platform services, APIs, middleware, runtimes, and integration frameworks.
• Define API versioning, lifecycle, deprecation, and safe-rollout strategies for downstream consumers.
• Establish reusable patterns for interoperability, multi-tenant scale, resilience, and secure development.
• Drive observability with SLIs/SLAs, error budgets, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Diagnose cross-service issues and lead durable remediation and migrations.
• Influence architecture through reviews, guidance, and hands-on engineering.
• Create migration guides, adoption playbooks, and examples for platform adoption.
• Mentor engineers and raise design and coding quality across teams.
